Hello There,

Well, I am pleased to say that I haven't heard any more news about babies being attacked by dogs today. Doing research for this subject I feel like I have read just tooooo many.

I did read an interesting blog post from a journalist in Birmingham, she was making a good point about children being in charge of dangerous dogs. I wrote and said that all dogs can be dangerous if they are not trained and disciplined and exercised. She was particularly concerned about Staffordshire Bull Terriers, which are very much like Pit Bull Terriers. Pit Bulls are banned in the UK, but I have seen many in the US.

I truly believe the fact of the matter is, any dog can kill a baby. I read recently of a Pug that killed a baby in Canada. The problem is people are uneducated in the care of dogs - perhaps we should have a proper dog licence with an exam, so people have to pass before they are allowed to own a dog.

Actually, all people who have dogs should know about how to have a baby in the house safely. Everyone involved in a babys upbringing, that owns a dog, should know how a dog can possibly react to a baby in the house.

Dog With Baby

Hi, My name is Sarah, and I am making this blog because I found out some statistics that really shocked me.

The fact is, one child in two will be bitten by a dog before the age of twelve. That is half the child population of North America! That is a terrible statistic. I think this means we should all take responsibility for our dogs, and particularly when we bring a baby home, because this is when the trouble seems to start.

I have discovered a man named John Wade, who has written a book called How To Prepare Your Dog For Your Baby and he offers some sound advice. I have three children myself and I have been fortunate in that my dogs have given me no problems with my children, especially when I brought them home from the hospital.

I have made some squidoo lenses on this subject, these are:
